Deciphering the Fourth  Wall

Turning viewers into detectives, guiding them through mysteries while revealing the personalities and secrets of the characters.

By playfully dropping visual and narrative clues, the audience is invited to step into Murdoch's investigative world. Each hint, whether an abject within a scene, a subtle gesture, or a line of dialogue, reveals the characters' motivations, quirks, and relationships. This approach creates an immersive experience that encourages viewers to decode, uncover and explore the series more deeply.

Role: Art Director/Designer/Animator/ Colorist

As Art Director, I helped define and keep the project's visual style consistent and supportive to the concept we constructed. In addition I color corrected footage for consistency and vibrancy to match the visuals we designed.

Promotional Videos

Promotional Broadcast Video:

Designed and animated shots 1, 2, 4 and 5 in addition to designing shot 6

7 second vertical cutdown of broadcast promo I reformatted and edited.

A social promo I designed and animated highlighting one of the characters Julia Ogden giving a but of background to her role into the show, and some aspects of time period the show is set it.

For the brush stroke reveals, the strokes where screen recorded inside of Photoshop and brought into After Effects, where we were able to layer and time remap to create a more controlled layer tactile reveal.

We originally planned to transition the characters between live footage and a sketched world, but found that the treatment distracted from and dehumanized them. After removing the sketch treatment from the characters, we softened the background treatments and integrated sketch details around them to create better visual cohesion and guide the viewer’s focus.
